Downtown Asheville Sightseeing Walking Tour

To make the most out of your trip, consider going on a guided sightseeing tour that highlights the best of Asheville's rich history and local culture. A stroll around the city includes stops at breweries (where you can taste local brews), distilleries, and historic sites.

Tip: you may also opt for a private tour for a more personalized experience. Tours in Spanish/Portuguese/French are also available upon request.

Biltmore Adventures: Horses

Biltmore offers guests ages 8 and up one-hour guided trail rides for $95 per person on horses that match their skill level. To participate in this activity, guests must have at least a daytime ticket.

There is no shortage of fun activities at the Biltmore. A few of our favorites include guided bird walks, a land rover experience, carriage rides, sporting clay lessons (basic/advanced levels available), shotgun lessons, and craft workshops.

If you feel like trying something a little different, Biltmore also offers a one-hour archery course for children ages 8 and up and adults.

The Broadmoor Golf Course, located just outside Asheville, offers golfers a fun half-day experience. The course stretches to 7,140 yards in length from the gold markers, but also offers three other teeing options – Blue (6,569 yards) White (5,881 yards) and Green (5,082 yards). You can check tee times online prior to your arrival. 

The Adventure Center of Asheville

The Adventure Center of Asheville is your one-stop-shop for all things action and adventure while in town. The tour company offers several unique experiences that's sure to get your adrenaline pumping.

For one, the treetops adventure course offers unique climbing, zipping, walking, jumping, swinging, and rappelling challenges on 7 aerial trails through a shady wooded area. 

Tip: if you visit around Halloween, check out the Haunted & Aerial Glow Trails ideal for all ages.

If that’s not enough, The Adventure Center also offers a bicycle experience called Kolo Bike Park with 4 miles of purpose-built mountain bike trails.

If you're willing to take a longer drive outside the city, check out the Adventure Center’s sister company Wildwater Ltd. for guided raft tours on the Nantahala and Pigeon Rivers. 

French Broad Outfitters Tours

Tubing on the French Broad River is a great way to relax, float, and enjoy a beverage on a hot day. Tip: be sure to book ahead, arrive early, and bring your favorite beverages (alcoholic or otherwise).

The company's kayak tour offers an alternative viewpoint of the famous Biltmore Estate as you float through the ornate grounds. A third option allows you to float down through Asheville’s arts district on a canoe, kayak, or stand-up paddle board.

French Broad Outfitters also rents bikes and camping equipment, and has a nearby disk golf course.

Local trout and smallmouth bass congregate in the rivers around Asheville, making it the perfect place for fly fishing and boat float fishing.

The company also offers a unique falconry experience where you can accompany an expert licensed falconer and get up close and personal with these birds of prey. Tip: you can add falconry to your half-day wade trip for a full day of fun!

No Taste Like Home offers year-round 3-hour foraging tours, where you will journey through nature and collect dozens of wild edibles. You can bring your findings home or have one of Ashevlle’s local restaurants prepare your finds as an appetizer (with meal purchased separately).

Previous restaurant-prepared snacks and appetizers have included wild mushroom pizza, daylily tamales, and wildberry ice cream. The tours are open to all ages. Dogs are only allowed on private tours with special requests in advance.
