9 Pet-Friendly Spots You Can't Miss Near Yucca Valley

At Wander, we welcome your furry pals to enjoy a vacation with you at any of the Wander homes. To make things a little bit more convenient, we’ve gathered a list of activities, nearby stores, and restaurants you can enjoy together with your pet while staying at Wander Joshua Tree. 

Joshua Tree National Park

If you and your furry friend are up for a day of hiking and adventure, Joshua Tree Park is just the place for you. Just make sure to pick up a park map showing all the dirt roads you and your pup can walk on.

While dogs are allowed in the park, they must be on a leash at all times and cannot be more than 100 feet from a road. Standard etiquette of picking up after your dog always applies.

The combination of elevation and desert air can quickly lead to dehydration so make sure to pack plenty of water for you and your pet.

Mission Creek Preserve

If you’re looking for a less intense day of wandering around, Mission Creek Preserve is a dog-friendly nature preserve near Wander Joshua Tree. The area is home to old buildings along a dusty pathway that you can walk with your leashed friend.

On the way, you'll pass historic structures and stunning desert plant communities, all with the backdrop of Southern California’s tallest peak in the background. Don't forget to pick up after your pup.

Desert Christ Park

At Desert Christ Park which overlooks the high desert town of Yucca Valley, you'll find more than forty snow-white sculptures and images portraying scenes of Christ's life and teachings. Dogs are welcome into the park, as long as they're leashed and all mess is cleaned up after them.

Pioneertown

Pioneertown is a Western movie set turned community, complete with a swinging-door saloon, a bank to hold up and a gunsmith to outfit your weapons.

The community welcomes visitors to come and enjoy fresh air, and beauty as well as great food, entertainment, and shop arts and crafts.

Best of all your pooch is welcome to come along for the ride. The weekends might be better to visit to get the full Pioneertown experience.

You can also spoil your dogs with the array of baked treats and fun toys that will keep them entertained for hours on end. Outside, you'll find fresh water bowls to keep your pup hydrated in the warm desert weather.

Boozehounds have the perfect space where you can socialize with your pups. The expansive restaurant and lounge located along the ‘gateway’ to the city provides a friendly environment for both canines and their humans.

Their venue features a dog-friendly open-air atrium, along with a cabana bar and patio. Your dog can even choose its own meal. While your dog is welcome to enjoy a meal with you, there are a few rules they ask you to follow.
