Bandon is a small city located on the Oregon Coast. It is known for its vibrant ocean vistas, wild woods, and streams. It offers pleasant temperatures and clean air.

To truly take in all Bandon has to offer, you’ll want to spend plenty of time exploring its hiking and walking trails. Here are a few you won’t want to miss out on.

Bandon Coast Walk

The Bandon Coast Walk will take you through Bullard Beach State Park. The 4.4-mile trail provides stunning scenery of the ocean and beautiful wildflowers that bloom seasonally. You will also see your share of sea life, birds, and wildlife.

The terrain is relatively smooth making it easy enough to bring pets and kids along. Dogs are permitted but they must be on a leash.

Face Rock Viewpoint Trail

This trail runs through Face Rock State Scenic Viewpoint Park. Its rocks and tidal flats form part of the Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge. Visitors can view the over 300 species of birds that frequent the area.

The trail is .3 miles and loops through its share of beautiful wildflowers. Its 9 ft. elevation means it is relatively easy to conquer. Bird watching is best from March to October. Pets are welcome.

New River Area Trails

Enjoy the river views and relative privacy of New River Area Trails as you loop around its 2.4-mile expanse. You can stay on your hike to take in the various scenic views that range from water areas to forests to beaches while making the most of the moderate physical activity its 45 feet of elevation has to offer. Alternatively, you can make a pit stop to take advantage of the paddlesports available along the route.

The path is well maintained with benches, picnic tables, and great views. There are also several side trails to wander off on. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash.

Coquille River Lighthouse Trail

The Coquille River Lighthouse is a significant Bandon attraction. It is located in Bullards Beach State Park. Make the most of your day visiting by taking a hike through its surroundings. You will see your share of wildlife as well as stunning ocean vistas.

The trail is .3 miles in total and has an elevation gain of 3 ft. making it suitable for all types of walkers. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash.

While the lighthouse tower is closed, visitors are welcome to visit the fog/ signal room. It is open daily from 11 AM to 5 Pm from mid-May through September.

Seven Devils Beach

This 1-mile trail is located at Seven Devils Recreation Site. It is moderately trafficked. Its 5 ft elevation gain makes it an easy walk for most hikers.

It offers fantastic beach views and terrific bird-watching opportunities. You may also decide to stop off to fish or engage in other water activities during your trip.

The beach itself provides miles of sandy open land that can be traveled up and down. It is a prime destination for beachcombers looking for agate.

Hollarback, Bootlegger, Captain Blacklock, Sir Lancelot, Stay Tuned, Dirty Dishes

This is actually a series of trails delightfully named by modern hikers and bikers. All in all, it spans a total of 5.7 miles and has an elevation gain of 436 feet making it a moderately difficult challenge. The trails will take you in a loop, so you end up back where you started.

The terrain is rocky and runs through mountains and dense forests. It is not overly populated. The trail’s not easy for everyone to conquer, but it’s tons of fun.

Coquille Point Trail

Coquille Point Trail is located in Kronenberg County Park. Both offer the best views of the Oregon Islands National Wildlife Reserve. They are especially rich in birdlife. Keep your eyes open for puffins, murres, and cormorants. You will also enjoy the sea creatures and rock formations.

The path itself is .5 miles, and it's rated as easy. It has a 45-foot elevation gain and loops around to your starting point. You’ll want to take the whole family along for this one.

Bullards Beach North Loop Trail

The trail is another Bullards Beach one you’ll want to explore. It spans 5.7 miles and offers a 131-foot elevation. Its deep soft sand makes it more challenging than others that wind through the beach. It offers scenic views of the ocean and it’s perfect for bird, nature, and wildlife watching.

The trail is accessible year-round. Dogs are welcome but they must be kept on a leash.

Lost Lake Trail

Lost Lake Trail is one of Bandon’s best-kept secrets. It is an outback trail that is lightly trafficked. It runs for 1.7 miles and has a moderate elevation of 65 feet. It offers lake views, forested lands, dunes, terrific bird watching, and seasonal wildflowers.

In addition to hiking, you can engage in water-based activities such as boating and hiking. Dogs are permitted but must be kept on a leash.

Sunset Bay to Cape Arago

This trail will take you from Sunset Bay, one of the most scenic places in Oregon, to Cape Arago State Park, an inspiring headland that reaches out into the Pacific Ocean. The 8.5-mile span is an outback route with an elevation gain of 702 ft. It provides a variety of scenic views and activities including fishing and bird watching. It is moderately trafficked and accessible year-round.
