Best Hiking and Walking Trails in Cave Creek, Arizona

Looking to get active while staying at Wander Cave Creek? Here are a few suggestions for hikes in the area. 

Most of the hikes have very limited shade and temperatures can get very hot in the summer months. So, make sure to bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and a hat for your trip!

Elephant Mountain

This 7-mile loop trail takes you through desert terrain near Cave Creek, Arizona. This route is more suitable for more experienced hikers, and it generally takes around 3 hours to complete.

Best times to visit this trail are October through May. You can bring your dog too, but they must be on a leash. If you're bringing a car, be sure to bring at least $3 in cash for the parking fee. 

Metate Trail and Towhee Trail

This 2.7-mile out-and-back trail near Cave Creek, Arizona is a popular choice among beginners, which normally takes you around an hour to complete.

Best times to visit this trail are September through May. Like most trails in the area, you can also bring your pups with you but be sure to put them on a leash.

Slate Trail

Beginners will also enjoy what Slate Trail has to offer. This 3.9-mile trail features a flat yet rocky terrain is flat, and you can go trail running or mountain biking here.

To avoid extreme heat, best times to visit are from October to May. Leashed dogs are also allowed on the trail.
